THE URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT
The Urban Renewal Project is an LA-based band that uses the instruments of a bygone era to create a signature sound, blurring the boundaries between styles like soul, jazz and hip-hop. The group features a big band horn section, a singer and a rapper who perform upbeat originals and fresh interpretations of everything from jazz standards to recent hits. They've toured nationally from Rockwood Music Hall to the San Jose Jazz Summerfest, and their recordings have received airplay on influential radio stations across the country, including KCRW-Santa Monica and WDCB-Chicago.
The Urban Renewal Project has completed a new album titled 21st Century Ghost coming out this fall on CD and digital download, featuring guest appearances by Camp Lo, Gavin Turek, Hugh Augustine, Amber Navran, T.J. Wilkins, Dustin Morgan, Alex Nester & Elmer Demond.
Formed in the fall of 2014, Holy Pistola is a well rehearsed 10 piece band that seamlessly blends elements of Soul, Funk & Hip Hop. Our musical direction reflects a wide aray of inspirations across those same genres. Inspired by everything from 70’s Soul & Funk pioneers like Roy Ayers, Mother Father Sister Brother, Sly & The Family Stone to golden era hip hop artist such as The Fugees, Nas, Rakim &The Roots to more contemporary artist like Robert Glasper Experiment, Kendrick Lamar & Little Dragon.
Our #1 mission is to Move The Crowd! We believe we are able to achieve our mission through the universal language of music and it’s ability to reach out and remind us that we are all on this journey together. No matter the color, sex, creed or background…Everybody needs some soul!
